This was the most hassle-free day trip I’ve taken in Vietnam. The driver picked me up right on time in Can Tho, and the drive to My Tho was smooth and scenic. We stopped briefly at Vinh Trang Pagoda, which had some gorgeous statues and carvings. Chris met us at the boat station—super friendly and clearly passionate about the Delta. I liked that he didn’t just talk facts but also added personal stories and cultural context. Tan Thach village was the right call. Not crowded, and everyone seemed genuinely welcoming. Tasting honey tea and fruit while listening to live music was so peaceful. And the rowing sampan? Magical. Like stepping into another world for a while. Lunch was delicious and filling, especially the crispy elephant ear fish. Chris even helped translate with the locals so I could ask questions. Back to Can Tho by sunset, feeling totally relaxed and well-fed.
This tour was thoughtfully paced and perfect for those wanting a gentle dive into the Mekong Delta. We were picked up from our hotel in Can Tho on time, had a relaxing drive to My Tho, with a quick yet interesting stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda. Minh joined us at the boat station—he’s the kind of guide who makes you feel like a friend from the start. His local knowledge and light humor added so much depth to the experience. I especially liked that we went to a quieter village, Tan Thach, instead of the usual Unicorn Island. It felt more personal, more authentic. Watching the coconut candy being made (and eating it!) was surprisingly fun, and the horse cart ride was a quirky throwback. Lunch was fantastic—super fresh and plenty of it. We were back in Can Tho before 5 PM, not exhausted, just really satisfied. Minh made it all flow so well.
I didn’t expect to feel so calm and grounded after a full-day tour, but that’s what happened. We left Can Tho at 8 AM sharp and arrived in My Tho just before 11. The stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda was lovely—such intricate architecture, and David gave just enough context without overloading us. Once we boarded the boat, the world slowed down. The floating houses, the islands—there was this easy pace to everything. David is one of those guides who reads the group really well: he knew when to share, when to let us soak it in. I appreciated that we visited Tan Thach instead of the more touristic spots. The coconut workshop was interesting (and smelled amazing), and the sampan ride through the coconut-lined creek was just stunning. Lunch was generous and fresh—I tried elephant ear fish for the first time and loved it. We made it back to Can Tho around 4:45 PM, just as the light started to soften. A full but totally smooth day.
I travel a lot and often feel tours are a bit too "packaged"—but this one with Chris felt refreshing and real. The pickup from Can Tho went smoothly, and the visit to Vinh Trang Pagoda before meeting Chris already gave the day a cultural touch. Chris was waiting at the pier in My Tho, full of good vibes and fascinating stories. I liked that we skipped the touristy Thoi Son island and went to Tan Thach instead—it felt much more local. Seeing how coconut candy is made was cool (and tasty!), and the sampan ride through a shaded, narrow canal was incredibly peaceful. The lunch with elephant ear fish and fresh herbs was a highlight too. Everything flowed naturally and we never felt rushed. For anyone staying in Can Tho, this day trip is a must-do if you want authenticity and calm.
The tour was exactly what I needed after a few hectic travel days. The pickup in Can Tho was right on time, and even the drive to My Tho didn’t feel long because the scenery was interesting and the stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda broke it up nicely. I met Lâm at the boat pier—he was fantastic from the get-go: calm, deeply knowledgeable, and attentive without ever being overbearing. The coconut candy process was so fun to watch (and taste!), and I enjoyed learning how locals use every part of the coconut. The musical performance felt genuine, and the horse cart ride brought smiles all around. But the hand-rowed sampan through the narrow canal was just pure peace. Lunch was fresh and filling, and I loved that I could try so many local flavors. I returned to Can Tho around 5 PM, feeling like I'd seen a totally different rhythm of life. Great day out.
As someone who loves learning while traveling, I was really impressed with this tour. Thomas was incredibly knowledgeable but also easygoing and funny, which made the whole day a pleasure. We covered a lot without ever feeling rushed. I particularly enjoyed the mix of transportation: motorboat, horse cart, then the quiet sampan ride—each gave a different view of the landscape and local life. The visit to the coconut workshop was very interesting and surprisingly hands-on, and the music performance felt very intimate, not touristy at all. Lunch was a feast—I’m still thinking about the elephant ear fish. Honestly, this day gave me more insight into southern Vietnam than any museum could. Highly recommended if you want substance and connection in your travel.
From the moment I got picked up in Can Tho, the day unfolded so smoothly. The car was clean, cool, and comfortable—a good thing for the 3-hour drive to My Tho. We made a quick stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, which was a beautiful slice of history and a peaceful way to start the morning. David greeted me warmly at the boat pier, and I could tell instantly that he truly loved his job. He was full of energy and made the Mekong come alive with his stories. I appreciated how the tour focused on a quieter area (Tan Thach), far from the crowds. The hand-rowed sampan ride through the coconut-lined creek was magical. It was like slipping into a postcard. I also loved the horse cart ride—not something I expected to enjoy but it was surprisingly charming. Lunch was delicious (especially the elephant ear fish!), and everything felt paced just right. I got back to Can Tho by late afternoon, feeling full—both in stomach and soul.
