The 845-hectare Tra Su cajuput forest (planted from the 80s) is an ideal destination for nature lovers. Explore the nature & wildlife by boat & rowing sampan, enjoy enormous emerald-green duckweed as well as flocks of birds (seasonal), conquer the longest walking bamboo bridge in the forest in Vietnam.
When people ask me what to see in Mekong today. I tell them view our MekongDelta365.

Nowadays, there are more and more green and responsible tours which are meaningful and educational as well. This is why Can Tho noodle factory is getting popular for both Vietnamese and foreigners to come and explore the cuisine culture and the typical local life in Can Tho, Mekong Delta.

Chris knew how to balance information and quiet. Sometimes we just listened to birdsong or the breeze in the trees. Tra Su felt like a gentle farewell to the countryside before we moved on to the city. The bamboo bridge was both fun and scenic. Smooth drive to Can Tho afterward – I appreciated not having to think about logistics at all.
Danh was wonderful – warm, funny, and knowledgeable. Tra Su is gorgeous, and I loved how Danh wove in stories about Khmer beliefs and life at the border. The observation tower had such an epic view. Lunch was tasty and surprisingly fresh for such a remote spot. The car to Can Tho was air-conditioned and comfy. Everything ran on time, too!
The morning in Tra Su was meditative. Duy was thoughtful and calm, guiding us through the forest with quiet enthusiasm. We spotted birds, floated through the canal maze, and walked across the surreal bamboo bridge. It was a perfect contrast before heading to the urban hum of Can Tho. The nature, food, and smooth transfer made it feel seamless.
Hannah made this trip smooth and meaningful. Tra Su forest is raw and peaceful – unlike the touristy spots. I especially liked the small rowing boat part, where we drifted quietly through the green. Hannah explained the sugar palms and rice ecosystems so clearly. The Khmer Buddhist insight added a human layer to the forest. Great lunch and very well-organized transfer to Can Tho.
I wasn’t expecting so many birds! The flooded forest felt like a sanctuary. Thomas pointed out egrets, storks, and even a kingfisher. I loved how he wove in details about the ecosystem and how Khmer culture intertwines with it. The bamboo bridge felt like something out of a fairytale. Lunch was decent, and the transfer to Can Tho was smooth. I’d do it again just for the sounds of the forest.
I’ve seen redwoods, I’ve seen mangroves… but this was different. Lâm showed us the quiet side of Vietnam – the flooded forest was like stepping into a secret world. The rowboat part? Unreal. So calm, and you just float with the trees reflecting in the water. The bamboo bridge was my favorite – just kept winding into the green. Lunch was simple and satisfying. I dozed off in the car to Can Tho, totally relaxed.
Hannah was such a warm and knowledgeable guide. I loved learning how the Mekong shapes life here – the sugar palms, the fish farms, and even the spiritual life of the Khmer people. The sampan ride was peaceful and full of bird sounds. That bamboo bridge felt endless, but the views were worth it! I would’ve never found this place on my own. Ending with a calm transfer to Can Tho was perfect.
I thought it was going to be “just another nature walk,” but Thomas turned it into something more. From explaining how Khmer Buddhism shapes the border culture to pointing out birds I’ve never seen before – it was immersive and memorable. The flooded forest was stunning, especially from the rowing sampan. The bamboo walkway gave me forest temple vibes. Lunch was nice and light. The ride to Can Tho was relaxing after such a magical morning.
