Perfect short escape for couples
We didn’t have much time left in Vietnam, but this 2-day Mekong trip gave us a deep local experience without feeling rushed. The small canal with the sampan ride was picture-perfect. Our guide Thomas made sure everything ran smoothly and told us great stories about the Delta.
Staying on the island was a highlight – the room was basic but clean, the hosts very sweet. We cooked, laughed, and ate too much! Morning on the river was peaceful beyond words.
If you're not into crowded buses and prefer something warm, slow, and intimate – this is your tour.

Unwinding in the Mekong Delta
If you’re looking for a break from the chaos of travel, this is it. The pace was slow and deeply relaxing. Our guide Lâm was fantastic – patient, warm, and knowledgeable. He made sure we understood each part of the journey, from the candy workshop to the cultural significance of Đàn Ca Tài Tử music.
I especially loved the rowing sampan through the shaded canal. But the best part was helping our homestay host cook dinner – a real bonding moment. Waking up to birdsong and a river breeze was the perfect way to end it.
This is not a luxury trip – it’s about connection, culture, and calm.

Floating slowly into the heart of the Mekong
This tour was all about immersion. From the moment we met our guide Thomas in Cai Be, everything felt calm and unrushed. We sampled coconut candy, watched pop rice explode in a pan, and glided through narrow water coconut canals.
Lunch in the garden was divine, but the homestay really stood out. We chopped vegetables with our host, learned to fry spring rolls, and sat under the stars after dinner talking about life in the delta.
Next morning was quiet, with a breeze on the river as we returned to Vinh Long. It’s not flashy, but it’s real – and that’s what made it magical.

The most authentic thing we did in Vietnam
We were honestly blown away by how much we experienced in just 2 days. From Cai Be, our guide Chris took us to local candy makers, tiny canals, and a garden lunch with elephant ear fish – so fresh and flavorful.
But the highlight was the night at the homestay. The family was so welcoming, and helping them cook dinner felt like visiting long-lost relatives. We cycled around the island, met some curious kids, and watched the sunset from the riverside.
The next morning was peaceful – just breakfast by the river and a short boat ride to Vinh Long. A gentle, soul-filling escape from city chaos. Highly recommended if you want to slow down and connect with real people.

A quiet finish to a vibrant journey
We started our Mekong experience in the buzz of Can Tho, and ended it in the stillness of Cai Be – like a symphony that slows to a gentle last note.
Guide Hannah was warm, informative, and incredibly thoughtful. She made sure my mom (who’s 68) felt safe on the boats and enjoyed the ride. The garden lunch was fresh and delicious, especially the elephant ear fish.
Sleeping at the homestay was like stepping back in time. And the morning boat to Cai Be, with mist on the river and birds calling, was a perfect ending.

Unexpected highlight of our Vietnam trip
We booked this as a way to “fill the gap” between Can Tho and Saigon without doubling back. But it ended up being one of our favorite parts of Vietnam.
Guide David was the kind of guy who makes everything feel personal – he introduced us to each local artisan like old friends. We ate jackfruit fresh from the tree, tried making rice paper, and shared meals in a riverside garden.
The night at the homestay was peaceful – hammocks, laughter in the kitchen, frogs singing outside. In the morning, we drifted to Cai Be on a quiet boat ride. No traffic, no noise, just the river. Highly recommend this reverse route.

Perfect wind-down from Can Tho to the countryside
After seeing the floating markets in Can Tho, we wanted something quieter and more local before ending our trip. This tour was the perfect wind-down.
Guide Chris picked us up early and was full of stories – he talked about everything from farming to food to family life in the Delta. We took boats, bikes, and sampans through peaceful villages before arriving at a cozy riverside homestay.
Dinner was a shared experience – cooking with the hosts, drinking tea, and learning a few Vietnamese words. The next morning was misty and lovely – our boat to Cai Be glided past coconut trees and stilt houses. We ended at the pier by 9:00 AM, feeling enriched and relaxed.
