I did this tour before continuing my journey to Can Tho, and it was just the right bite-sized adventure. Danh was enthusiastic and full of great insights. We glided past villages and stopped at the candy workshop—very welcoming and lots of tastings! The floating market was no longer active, but Danh explained the history and how trade has changed. The sampan ride through the canal was tranquil, and the boat lady smiled the whole way. Lunch on the island was fresh, and the setting in the garden made it extra special. It felt like we squeezed in a lot, but nothing was rushed. Great value and a real slice of local life.
We only had a few hours before heading back to Ho Chi Minh, and this half-day tour was perfect. Hannah was friendly and made sure everything flowed smoothly. We started with a boat ride through the river villages, then visited the local factory with candy, rice wine, and fun snacks (my favorite was the pop rice). I appreciated how the workshop was real, not overly staged. The traditional music was a surprise—I didn’t know about Đàn Ca Tài Tử before, but Hannah told us about its history and UNESCO recognition. The rowing sampan ride was peaceful and shaded—great for photos. Lunch was better than expected for a short tour: fresh rolls, fish, and more. Overall, very smooth and enjoyable.
Merci Thomas.
I only had half a day free in the Mekong and I’m so glad I chose this short version of the tour. Minh, our guide, met us at the Cai Be boat station with a big smile. We hopped on a boat and slowly cruised past stilt houses and local life. I loved the coconut candy workshop—it’s simple but sweet (literally). Tasting pop rice while watching it explode out of the pan was fun. The traditional music performance was brief but authentic. Minh explained that it’s a dying art, so I felt lucky to experience it. Then came the best part: the small sampan ride through the canal. It was quiet, shaded, and beautifully green. Lunch was in a peaceful garden and the elephant ear fish was crispy and flavorful. Back at the boat station by early afternoon, just in time for me to return to my hotel and rest. A compact but rich experience!
Merci Thomas.
We took this tour with our two kids (ages 7 and 10), and it was one of the best days of our Vietnam trip. Hannah was amazing with the kids—kind, patient, and knew how to keep them engaged. The coconut candy workshop was the highlight for them—they got to try samples, see machines, and even hold a piece of sugarcane. The sampan ride was short enough not to lose their attention but long enough for great photos. Lunch was super family-friendly. They even had some options for picky eaters. I didn’t expect the brick kiln to be interesting for children, but it was! Giant structures, lots of questions! No stress, no rushing. Just a lovely, gentle day out with learning woven into the fun. Thank you, Hannah!
This tour was full of surprises. I thought it would be just a relaxing boat trip, but there was much more. David was our guide, and he was fantastic—his English was perfect, and he explained cultural things in a way that was easy to connect with. I enjoyed the visit to the coconut workshop more than I expected, especially seeing how things are handmade. Floating market was small, but it gave us a window into a vanishing tradition. The rowing boat ride was short but unforgettable—so peaceful among water coconut trees. Lunch was generous and tasty, and the garden setting made it special. The brick kiln in Vinh Long was like a scene from another era. Very atmospheric. Highly recommended if you want more than just photos—this is about understanding the region and its people.
Living in Saigon for work, I was craving a day away from noise and chaos. This trip delivered perfectly. The driver picked me up right on time, and by 10am I was with Chris in Cai Be, already feeling calmer. Chris had a great way of explaining things—humorous but informative. We learned how coconut candy is made and sampled pop rice and even rice wine (I politely declined the snake one!). The floating market was small, but seeing the few boats still hanging on felt touching. But the best moment was on the small sampan ride through quiet canals—no engine, just the sounds of water and birds. Lunch on the island was excellent—fresh spring rolls and the elephant ear fish were perfectly done. I also really liked the pottery kilns in Vinh Long. Raw, honest craftsmanship. Back to Saigon just before sunset, feeling like I'd been gone longer than a day. A perfect reset.
