   Unexpected highlight of our Vietnam trip

   We weren’t sure what to expect from Vinh Long, but it turned out to be one of the most special parts of our journey. Chris was our guide and he was fantastic — calm, engaging, and full of insight. Seeing how bricks are made by hand, learning about local crafts, then relaxing on a boat with lunch was the perfect pace. I loved cycling on the islet and chatting with our homestay host, who made an amazing fish dish. The calm in the morning before heading back… unforgettable.

   Es war eine wunderbare Erfahrung, das echte Leben im Mekong-Delta kennenzulernen. Unser Guide Chris hat uns mit viel Leidenschaft durch die kleinen Kanäle und Dörfer geführt. Besonders beeindruckt haben mich die traditionellen Brennöfen für Ziegel – es fühlte sich an wie eine Reise in die Vergangenheit. Die Übernachtung im Homestay war sehr gemütlich, wir haben gemeinsam gekocht und viel gelacht. Am nächsten Morgen beim Frühstück am Fluss habe ich einfach nur die Stille genossen. Sehr zu empfehlen für alle, die Vietnam abseits der Touristenpfade erleben möchten.

On a commencé par une balade en bateau pour visiter les fours à briques, puis une marche dans le village où les gens nous ont accueillis avec des sourires sincères. Le déjeuner sur le bateau était simple mais délicieux, avec une vue incroyable sur les rivières du Delta. L’île d’An Binh est magnifique — calme, verdoyante, authentique.    Our guide Hannah brought so much positive energy to the day. I especially appreciated her patience and the way she introduced us to the people we met along the way. I opted for the village walk instead of staying on the boat, and I’m glad I did — I learned so much about the kiln craft and got to chat with a sweet elderly lady making bricks by hand.    Ce tour à Vinh Long était court mais tellement riche. Le guide, Chris, nous a accompagnés avec beaucoup de douceur. We trekked through a village with Thomas explaining local customs, then had a super relaxed lunch on the boat. The homestay was a highlight: clean, friendly, and peaceful. We helped cook dinner, shared stories with the family, and fell asleep to the sounds of crickets and frogs. Magical.
